Project Description
Kansai Beauty is a clean skincare brand inspired by Japanese and Mexican wellness philosophies. It offers sensorial products, aromatherapy, and curated ritual kits designed to support slow, intentional self-care.

01. Context + Background
Kansai Beauty was born from a desire to create skincare and wellness products that felt grounded, sensory, and sincere. I wanted to build a brand that honored everyday rituals, not through loud marketing, but through thoughtful design, ingredient integrity, and editorial storytelling.
The goal was to blend softness with structure: a visually refined brand that could stand alongside Aesop or Heretic, but with its own earthy, soulful identity.

02. My Role
As founder and creative director, I led every aspect of the brand — from concept to execution.
Developed the brand name, tone of voice, and values
Designed the visual identity, packaging, and printed materials
Formulated and tested products using high-quality natural ingredients
Directed photography, styling, and product art direction
Built the eCommerce site using Framer and developed the brand’s digital voice
Created naming systems, color palettes, and ingredient storytelling around each product line

04. Approach / Solution
I began with deep material and cultural references, drawing inspiration from Japanese minimalism, traditional Mexican botanicals, and the sensory experience of hospitality spaces. I developed a soft, earthy color palette and paired it with a restrained typographic system to evoke clarity and calm.
Each product was designed with intention: from the way a rollerball fits in your hand to the small ritual card included in each order. I used recyclable materials, apothecary-style containers, and natural preservation methods. Everything from the unboxing to the scent was treated as part of the experience.
05. Results / Impact
Launched a fully branded skincare and wellness line with a strong identity and growing customer base
Expanded into wholesale and experiential channels — including sponsored wellness retreats, beauty events, and curated gift packages for boutique hotels and hospitality spaces
Created an elevated unboxing experience that led to high engagement and repeat purchases
Positioned Kansai Beauty as a trusted, design-forward brand in the clean beauty and lifestyle space, with future opportunities for retail, collaborations, and pop-ups
